Medford Senior Portraits | Shawntish – Class of 2018

General Seniors

I was lucky enough to spend the afternoon recently with this gorgeous gal, traipsing around downtown Medford, in search of pretty light and drier conditions! We met up on a rather gloomy day for her senior session, but I’ve learned to work these sort of conditions by utilizing concrete to reflect light, and finding parking garages to produce even skin tones and keep my clients out of the rain! I enjoy a good challenge from time to time, and unknown variables usually present me with just that. Shawntish is a senior from Brookings, Oregon, and is a total delight. She’s beautiful, smart, kind, and lovely, and I am so grateful she trekked over from Brookings to have me do her shoot. She chose simple, solid colors for her session, that looked beautiful and so classy, and really brought out her smile. I cannot wait to see where her future takes her, and I know it’s surely bright.

Senior sessions are something I really love to do, because I love the warmth and energy of these young people. Though I am still young myself, I am always inspired to hear about their hopes and dreams, and to find out what they are pursuing after high school. Senior shoots are also easygoing, creative, and fun, and are a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of wedding season. I am looking forward to the rest of October, and more senior sessions to come!

Are you searching for someone who can capture natural, classic, and clean senior photos? I find that my simple and relaxed style appeals to many seniors who want a little less of a massive “production” and want to feel like a more polished version of themselves. I think that this time in your life is so special and irreplaceable, it deserves a documentation that is truly authentic and organic. Below, you can find Shawntish’s session highlights, and I hope they do justice to the enigmatic young woman she is:

12.19.27 This sequence of numbers means something. It means this man recently turned 86. 86? That's about what I've got in my savings. 86? It's an age that many of wont get to say we made it that far. And here, Alfred is still kicking it, laughin' up, and showing us gals a thing or two about heavy equipment. I went out to photograph this man as showed me around a large yard filled with machinery that he had worked on many years prior. He knew almost every engine. He knew the ends and outs of how they worked and how to fix them when they didn't. It's a art- fixing things rather than throwing them out and buying something new. ...

Love is powerful and a commitment to say yes to love, forever, is mighty brave. This love of Tessa and Paul is a beautiful thing to be around (and not such a bad gig to get to photograph their wedding in Hawaii either)
