What on earth do I wear?
I've never had professional photographs taken. Where do I start?
For starters, you'll probably want to wear more than just your birthday suit. Beyond that, I'm here to help guide you! Some people love creating their wardrobes for their photo session, while others don't know where to begin. I make recommendations in terms of how clothes fit, complementary colors and how to best coordinate with there are few people. I usually encourage people to bring a few outfits so we have some choices.
Asking yourself- what's fueling your desire to be photographed is a great beginning. Are you looking to grow you business and need content? Are you looking for photos of you and your loved one out in nature, so that you can print a big photo to put on your wall? Do you want to see photos of your family out in nature and make an album? Is your family in town and you'd like a photograph to capture everyone together?
I'd like to book you! How does that work.
I'm awkward in front of the camera and don't know what to do. Do you help your clients pose?
My 11 year old hates when I say this, but- cool beans! I'd love to walk you through the process! Depending on the session/event, we'll check our calendars and make sure we are in sync. Second? I request a 30% deposit on sessions, weddings and all bookings. From there, I request that all bookings are up to date with payment 5 days before the event or portraits session.
I get it. I really do. I'm not the most comfortable in front of the camera and I never know what to do with my hands. Thankfully, I am better at guiding clients than I am posing myself. My goal here it provide the direction at the beginning and give some prompts to couples, families, individuals that will create natural looking portraits. Sometimes that means asking couples to walk slowly towards the camera, where to place their hands or how to get into a different position so it's complementary to each person. I've been photographing awkward people for 20 years- my secrete here is to provide a carefree session with prompts and help to create natural look portraits.
