Portraits for a mom, just because.

October 19, 2017

Something that been interesting for me as a photographer and an artist, is to watch the rise of the smartphone, and how it influences our portraits and lifestyles. Everyone wants to take snapshots of their friends, a great cup of coffee, or a trip to the beach, but portraits are a bit of lost art…at least portraits that feel well, special. So, when Lora came to me for “just because” portraits, I jumped right on board. Lora is a loving, active mama to two incredible boys, and is very creative. She’s social person and one can find her out and out about working in the wedding industry, with other creatives and if Lora is around, theres probably something tasty or beautiful around. Lora came from the wedding industry in San Francisco before settling in the hills of Ashland . There’s nothing she loves more than spending her time creating, as well as being with her children. She also has her very own Etsy shop, and she bakes loaves of bread that look so good, you can almost smell them through your Instagram feed (if only!).

I think with all our smartphones, we forget that portraits don’t need a special occasion. What if we approached portraits like our iPhone snapshots? I think they’d feel a little more like this: we would do sessions because we feel beautiful, or because we are happy, or because we are simply alive. There would be more sessions like this one to capture your personality, your joy, your style, and your movement. Especially for mamas, pouring out themselves to families and jobs and errands and work, these sessions are a special way to pamper yourself and create legacy images to pass down to your children.

Please contact me to schedule your shoot today…I’d love to share a cup of tea with you and document a shoot like this one.
