There’s a sweet air of anticipation on wedding days. There’s a rich excitement, a nervous energy… a joy that permeates everything from decorations to bouquets. As soon as I arrived on location in Bend, Oregon, for this event, I felt it all. Meet Tommy and Allie, the sweetest couple that asked me to document their special day. The pair is so well-matched, and there is a youthfulness and lightness in their love that I think I have done justice to below.
The bride and groom met while teaching in California, after being friends for quite a long time. Their beautiful friendship turned into romance, and they made the move from sunny California to the community of Bend to begin their future together. For their ceremony, they envisioned something small and intimate, surrounded by family and friends. They wanted rich conversations, accompanied by tasty wines, and lots of laughter. What resulted was just that, and they even had their pups outfitted with floral crowns! It was a bohemian, earthy day of festivities, and I was so honored to take part.
Skyliner Lodge in Bend, Oregon is a favorite location of mine to photograph at. I have enjoyed small celebrations here before, and I always love breathing that mountain air! The lodge is on the National Register of Historic Places, and I happily caught the way the sunlight made it’s way through the tall trees.
